The Dying Diaries of a Dead Poet

Dear poet,

My pages turned yellow

and I'm covered with dust,

did you find another place

to pour your heart?

another place that you trust?

You left in a blink of an eye,

your pen mourned you

till there was no more ink to cry,

slowly and painfully,

I watched him die.

Your poems left my papers

The song you composed in e minor?

It's no longer a rhymer.

And the love letters you wrote?

They're now one-liners.

Dear diaries, I'm dead.

My dear poet, I've heard.

This is my last page,

and this is the end.

A Hymn to Eros

O’ sweet god of passion and love

Whose wings are shiny and gold

And whose arrow is sharp and fast

And whose voice is sent from above,

Be gentle on my lover tonight,

Keep him safe, keep him warm,

Fill his heart with happiness and joy,

Bring him relief, bring him home,

One last thing before I walk away,

Bless his every night and every day,

I love him with love I almost lost,

I love him dearly, I love him the most.

Family

A family captured in a photo,

Picture perfect, lovely in a frame,

Can we carry this love forever?

And use all these cliches,

Forever, till the end of time,

Together,

A photo captured a family,

Perfect picture, in a lovely frame,

A big family of two families,

That became one,

I don’t want this to be over,

I don’t want it to be gone,

I thought I could change

the world for the best,

I thought I wanted to be better

Than all the other rest,

I thought I wanted fame,

To be the best in the game,

But all that I truly needed was

A photo,

A family,

And a frame
